Graphic Design Internship for Creative project

For EDGE creative project, I applied an internship for a graphic design department which last for two months. Graphic designer is a job that needed a lot of creative thinking so I liked the job very much. The job was mainly focus on poster design, logo design and events planning. For this project, I was intended to create high-quality graphic design works and then added to my e-portfolio, shared my working experience with people in EDGE group.
I turned in several design works I did for the work or the clients in my personal portfolio. I chose five of design works for the report of the project. I worked in Thunderbird Advertising group in SUU. In this semester we had several clients, firstly we did researches for them and went through specific design process for them. For example, for Dr. Stephen Chiropractor, I designed a new logo for them, and my group members came up with social media weekly release content for them. I also did several works for different clients like Hong Kong Buffet, Whittlesticks, Inc.
This is one of my design works, a poster design for Lambda Pi Eta. My client was from a member in that organization. They asked our TAG group to design a poster for them. Refer to the inspiration behind the design, I chose bright red color firstly because it’s the symbol color of SUU. I only listed the requirements for entering the organization and important contact information because in poster design, the most important thing is to keep everything simple.

The whole group came up with four different design works, and finally the client picked up every unique point and combined them in a new poster. I thought even though my work was not chosen, but I provided inspirations for them. Like many of other works, though some of them were not good enough, but my clients still pleased because I had some good points in these that they could add into it.

After this project, I increased creative thinking ability in study and future jobs, knew the differences from different design cultures. Because I got to communicate many different clients, this was a process that needed a lot of patience, keeping clients’ requests in mind and design out what they like was not easy. But finally I did the work completely, I learnt a lot from this internship and got many feedbacks everytime I shared with my group members.
In this project, I learnt a lot from many parts. I’m very appreciate to have this kind of opportunity. My design skills had been improved immensely. I had a more clear thought about what I’m going to do in the future by getting to know different carrier in advance.
